At end of 27th game – Average score batting first is 166 – a drop by 4 runs since end of 20th game. An overall drop of 2 points in batting average in same period, now the batting average is 27.24 @ 8.30/over – scoring rate healthy @61.06- with boundary coming 5.88 balls!.
Up till now there are 47 scores of 50s(only one century) or more scored by batsmen – out of which only 5 were scored by Indian domestic players(who are yet to play International cricket), 16 by Indian International players(current and recent past) and 26 by overseas players.
This is the major reason why teams elect to field first after winning the toss (KKR, and RR) as their middle order depends on Indian domestic batters.
On the other hand chasing targets has become much easier as teams are not scoring big totals when they bat first…which they did at the start of the IPL …
Here is Bat Average of Batting order for three categories((Overseas Int., Ind. Int, Ind. domestic)
In stats figures in tables. The one displaying batting second looks much healthier.

Here is contribution from International overseas players and Indians(domestic and Int). The figures in this graphic is the percentage of contribution to the overall total(runs and wickets).
