Historic event at KFC Big Bash League (or any T20 franchise)- for the very first time both finalist(Renegades & Stars) are from same city, viz Melbourne, will meet at Marvel Stadium. Since the advent of BBL 79 players represented Australia(all format), of which 18(22.78%)played for Victoria. Finals will see the likes of Maxwell, Finch, White, Cooper, Stoinis, Handscomb, Harris and Dan Christian.
Christian’s match winning innings enabled Renegades to reach the finals. They were asked a daunting task of chasing down 181 in 20 overs, and Dan came into to bat at end of 15th over with 49 runs still remaining. He ended scoring 31 of 14 balls(3 sixes).
DAN CHRISTIAN A ROLE MODEL
The greatest part of his knock was his role-play with his experienced tail-ender Kane Richardson, whom he trusted to bat naturally!.
Kane came into bat in the last over with 7 runs of 5 balls remaining. He sliced his first ball over point for 4 , then took a single to level the scores. Now 2 runs needed of 3 balls, Dan instead of finishing the game – took a single exposing his tail-ender to score one of 2 balls!!
With all fielders inside the circle it could have gone either way for Kane to hit or miss. Luckily Kane received a full toss which was hit through cover to win the game.
One feels that Dan believed in Kane to take them home!.
