30 Jul / 2025Australia’s winning way in T20I!.
A high scoring series in where Australia white-washed West Indies 5-0, and this inspite home side scoring 200 twice and never scored less than 170.
So how did Australia win, and where did West Indies lose the series?.
Re West Indies: Inspite getting the best start to their innings they were not able to capitalize on that. Never in the history of T20I cricket their openers manage to score 3 consecutive partnerships of 20+runs that featured a century stand!. And in this series their opening stand put on 32, 63,125,23 and 14.
There is not much of difference if we compare their indices with Australian batting(although faced less balls as they achieved all their targets with less discomfort)
There were two indicators that separated both teams widely
-
% C 10 (consecutive overs that fetched 10+r/o).West Indies 23.71% compare to Australia’s 33.20% –
-
% 2 Cons.SS (3 successive scoring shots) – West Indies 14.95% compare to Australia’s 18.77%
Re Australia : Inspite the start given by West Indies top order, the in-experience Australian bowling was able to constrain their scoring in last 2 phase and not allowing them to post mammoth total!. West Indies lost 26(38 total) wickets in last 10 overs @ 11.03 balls. Although their run-rate was hovering between 9 to 10 but 17.02% of those overs went for less than 5 runs!!.
Due credit to captain Mitch Marsh who made clever bowling changes in last 10-overs, not allowing batsmen to settle against particular bowler. In the last 10 overs he had 42 bowling changes, from which 20 wickets fell in 1st over of bowling change!. The executioner were Adam Zampa(8 spells), Nathan Ellis(11 spells) and Ben Dwarshuis(8 spells)
