A brief look at how England’s bowlers have performed at home since 2011.  There is enough indicator in the table below to suggest that their bowling has deteriorated.

The average runs/wkt has increased, yielding more runs/over.

The blatant ones are the method of dismissals (although there is no direct relation to winning games) in where there is less % of L  B W and BOWLED in home condition, which at one time was X Factor for English seamers. Not surprisingly it was very ordinary against Sri Lanka in recently concluded series.

The L B W dismissals are achieved if you are accurate and bowl full length, which England performed poorly.

Nevertheless at home, they still manage to dismiss their opponents cheaply. In 22 home Tests  54.55%  were <300 score, which is good compared to overall record of 47.50%.

This was also their 3rd home loss and first after taking a lead!.

And comparison to how Sri Lankan bowlers have performed overseas in non-sub-continent countries!. There is a great improvement in their bowling, especially containing and bowling accurately. Their % of maidens have gradually increased as seen in table below, and reduction in strike rate.
