14 Jan / 2016(377)…BBL05-Overseas players match winning value is diminishing

After reading DE VILLIERS (http://www.timeslive.co.za/sport/cricket/2016/01/13/AB-De-Villiers-confirms-bit-of-truth-in-retirement-rumours) comments on his Test future (uncertain UNCERTAIN FUTURE)

I wonder what is the value(in terms of match winning performance) of an oversea players in T20 franchise?.

At the moment BBL is hot and running in Australia…Both in terms of

a)   a) competition(this year the tournament is close fought, as after 25th game, every team had a chance in the semi-finals).

b)    b) runs scored/wkts taken. At end of 29th game , the avg score for batting first is 162.51, and interestingly 11 times(1st bat) teams went past 175 runs!.

Nevertheless so far overseas players in BBL05 are hardly contributed as match winners.

Cricketers like Kallis, Sangakkara, Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Jayawardene have performed below their (lofty) standards. They have done well(in terms of scoring runs/picking wickets) but not won a game single handedely and this format(T20) thrives and influcences individual performance.

Early in Dec (2015) the T20 league in NZ and SA had handful of overseas players signed. In South Africa Pietersen was the second highest run scorer(401 runs in 7 games) and Jayawardene scored 249 in 4 games for Central District (9th most run scorer).

However this is not the case in Australia where both these players along with other overseas are not in top bracket of most runs. Having said this, the heartening fact to know is two overseas players are the leading wicket-taker(Adil Rashid 14 wickets in 7 games, and Andre Russell 13 in  7 games)

Here is list of top batting and bowling performance.

All data is updated at end of 29th game
