Below table features how top batsmen performed in this series and comparison against how they batted against spin
For Australia David Warner’s inability to score runs at the top was the primary reason Australia were not able to post substantial score. Warner’s scoring shots per balls is probably the slowest in his Test career!. He was scoring after every 9 balls!.
For India top order needs to give support to Rohit Sharma who has been the backbone of this Indian batting.
Batsmen’s stats performance
A brief look at batsman performance using primary indices. In here we have particularly used scoring rate per balls and % 2 Cons. dot balls. This is compared with how they batted against spin. The surface seems to be helping bowlers, particularly spinners. Australia have failed to play with straight bat. On the contrary they would like to sweep from the onset, instead of playing straight. Indian bowlers hardly erred in their line and their length was not easy to judge for the Aussies.
Bowling analysis
The bowling was dominated by the spinners, and interestingly right arm fast bowler Mohd Shami was very economical and effective with new ball.
Australians collapsed regularly in these 2 test matches with 19 wickets falling to spin facing less than 10 balls. Overall 32 wickets(of 40) were picked by Indian spinners. From those 40 wickets 14 were LBW – It suggests how accurate Indian bowling was (pace and spin). Below table reflects eco rate of each team. Axar Patel and Siraj picked only 1 wicket each but they were able to maintain pressure by bowling regular maiden overs, with Axar leading the table with 14.91% C M. This compare to Australia who were not able to maintain pressure of bowling maidens.
