So far this World Cup has been a low scoring event, featuring basic fundamental errors from batsmen and fielders.
Teams inspite getting a decent start failed to capitalise to post decent total. There were regular batting collapse due to poor shot selection,With most trying to clear the rope from the onset.
The matches are played at two venues, Sharjah and Dubai(SC) with Sharjah bowler being bowler friendly.
History shows women’s cricket has less 6s, but boundary rate and overall scoring rate is excellent!.
However in this World Cup most batsmen got dismissed trying to clear the rope, especially to “pie-throwing” bowling! Hence we have higher % of PF bowling. A PF is Perfect Bowling Figure that features at least 1 wkt, conceding less than 6.50, with min 2 overs. Usually we see 1 bowler having a PF but in this WC we have seen more than 3 on regular basis.
One can understand slowness of pitch along with dew factor that makes batting challenging!. However one need to put a price on your wicket and not throw them away.
Batting against the new ball is much easy per say, but the old ball does not keep low, or the pitch does not go bad…
One benefit a batsman can have is to take advantage of poor fielding bowling teams have displayed so far, especially night matches.
One is surprised that players are not using special glasses to field under lights!.
As we enter the second phase of the tournament, one hopes to see better shot selection from players, especially when they are under pressure. This usually has happened to teams that are not balance in batting skills, with handful having correct technique!.
