20 Jun / 2016(411)…At Caribbean spinners turning the tri-series into a even contest.

The tri series is in balance as all three teams have won 2 games. Due to low NRR, host West Indies are at the bottom of the points table with 2 more games to play. So far the run rate in this series is less than 5 (4.95). This is the lowest run-rate in a series involving top teams since 2015.

The pitch supposedly helping the spinners …out of 92 wicket that fell in 7 games, 51(55.43%) went to spinners. The grounds in Caribbean are very small compared to other grounds around the cricketing world, yet the boundary rate was very low @ 7.59/100 balls. In today’s power hitting age the boundary rate is around 10/100 balls. The spinners have picked more than half of the wicket that fell inside 30 overs. They have dented the run-rate in first powerplay and continue doing that, by not allowing batsman to score runs freely.

Maximum scalps for spinners between 11-20 overs.

The overs between 11-20 is where the maximum damaged happened. Overall 18 wickets fell in that phase (all games) and out of that 14 went to spinners.
