On November 5, 1982 when representing Anjuman –I –Islam’s Akbar Peerbhoy College(A.P.College) in our 1st round in Junior Inter-College Tournament, i displayed an all-round performance. This was the proud moment for me 🙂
I was an opening bowler, picked couple of wkts(7/23/2) in this game. Not sure when I came to bat, but it seems lower down the order.
Interestingly, i hardly got any opportunity to bat at nets, either at Shivaji Park, or at clubs, or at colleges. I remained unbeaten on 77. So far, this being my highest ever score, & it featured (7 x 4s + 2 x6s). I was very exhausted after the knock, remember feeling dizzy!.
During that time A.P. & Mithibai College were one of the weakest teams around, and beating them & reaching the second round was the happiest moment for our college.
Nevertheless in the second round we lost horribly to Sidharth College of Arts & Science, who were one of the best in the tournament.
I use to have the original paper cutting, nevertheless couldn’t keep it safe for long. This (see below) is taken from Times of India Archives on 25th November 2013.
Will continue, if I am able to find more evidence.
